Place the cut strawberries, lemon juice and granulated sugar into a sauce pan.
Cook on medium heat initially for a minute.
Then turn the heat to low and let simmer for 10 - 15 mins stirring occasionally. No need for any additional water as the strawberries will release its own water.
Switch off the flame when you reach your desired consistency, keeping in mind that the sauce will thicken upon cooling and refrigeration.
Let it cool and transfer to a clean glass jar.
Strawberry sauce is ready to enjoy on ice cream, pancakes , cheesecakes etc. :))
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days
Freeze for later in freezer-proof jars for up to 2 months.
For strawberry coulis - Blend the strawberry sauce in a blender and strain through a sieve for a smooth sauce.
