Coconut Chicken Fry | Payolli chicken fry

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm Chicken cut to pieces
  • 1 cup Grated Coconut
  • 1 inch Ginger crushed
  • 4 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Fennel powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar or lemon juice
  • to taste Salt
  • enough to fry Coconut Oil/vegetable oil
  • 5 nos Dried red chilies chopped & deseed if you want to reduce the spice level
  • few Curry leaves
  • ¼ cup Bread crumbs

Method
 

  1. Make slits on the chicken pieces with a knife. Add ginger, garlic, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder, black pepper powder, vinegar (lemon juice) and salt to the chicken.
  2. Massage it well into the chicken and keep aside for 1 hour. Grind the grated coconut to a fine powder.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces on a low flame till they are cooked and golden brown.
  4. Remove most of the oil from the pan. In the remaining oil, fry the ground coconut, dried red chillies and curry leaves till they are golden brown in colour.
  5. Now, add in the bread crumbs and keep on stirring.
  6. When the mixture turns crispy, add the chicken pieces and fry for a few more minutes.
  7. Serve sizzling hot!! Enjoy!!
